We take inspiration for this work from the transformative power of dance and the intrinsic connection between mind and body. Through dance, movement and body awareness, we aim to create therapeutic change in the lives of our participants by creatively addressing emotional, physical, mental, and social aspects of their stories.

To provide the opportunity for individuals to explore and express their feelings through the medium of movement, resulting in a more satisfying life experience and positive relationships

Our History

We are a new company but our team have a wealth of experience Shirley has worked with clients experiencing the affects of bereavement, depression, abuse, addiction and emotional difficulties, as well as conditions such as Dementia, Autism, Schizophrenia and Bi-Polar Disorder.  She also works with clients seeking personal growth self-exploration or self-understanding.  Organisations she has worked with include Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Mersey Care NHS Trust as well as the Centre for Psychiatry, Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine at Queen Mary University, London.  She also works with Age UK Cheshire, Cheshire Dance, Parkinson’s UK (Crewe and District Branch), a variety of care organisations and service providers, and Edge Hill University..

Our Principles

We empower our clients through movement, dance and body awareness and promote connection with others through movement. We encourage our clients to discover the mind-body connection and encourage them to continue an embodied approach in their everyday lives so that they will also be empowered in life outside the sessions

Shirley Brocklehurst

 

Shirley is our CEO and Practice Director.  She is an experienced Dance Movement Psychotherapist who consciously draws on a range of therapeutic models resulting in a integrative approach.

 

Shirley is a Registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist with the  Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy (ADMP UK), which is a member of the Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy college of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Tony Carr

 

Tony is our Operations Director

He brings strong organisational ability  from his military service and work for the police and local authorities. Most recently he has worked in the NHS and has healthcare skills as well as training in Dementia, Learning Difficulties, Parkinson’s, CBT and Mindfulness.
